Earlier I posted some pictures from inside the National Gallery of Victoria but none from the exterior. The building is designed by Sir Roy Grounds and is the oldest and largest public art museum in Australia. It's is probably my favourite piece of Australian architecture thus far.

I took a trip into the Melbourne Museum and decided to focus on the lighting effects and installations around the exhibitions. Here are a few examples!

One of the best places to sit in Melbourne and absorb the city sights and sounds is underneath the rail bridge at Flinders Street. With it's panoramic view over South bank it's also a fantastic location to take in the iconic flame torches periodically illuminate the banks of the Yarra River.

This was drawn from a photograph taken by Lee Jeffries of a homeless man. Three pencils were used, an F, 3b and 7b.

Next stop...Melbourne! Of course The first destination on my list was the National Gallery of Victoria. It was a great day out and admission is free. When I went, there was a fantastic modern art exhibition but I particularly enjoyed the photography room. Although I haven't included any images, there was a great collection of European art which I didn't expect.
