eye and my portraiture

Portrait with a canon prime lens.

eye and my journey to peng chau

Peng Chau is a small island just off the east cost of Lantau Island. It's known for its quaint atmosphere and the inhabitants laid back outlook on life. There are several small temples peppered around the island which are open to the public. Unfortunately they were closed when we arrived so a revisit will soon be in order. The island is also known for its thai cuisine at great prices. The restaurants stand unassuming, however the food is nothing less than wonderful.

eye and my camera

Every evening at 8pm, the buildings on central, either side of Victoria Harbour come together to put on a light show. It can be categorised into five main themes- Awakening, Energy, Heritage, Partnership and Celebration.

eye and architecture

I had heard that the Chi Lin Nunnery was a must for those with an interest in architecture, so I ventured into central to investigate the hype. The nunnery as it stands today follows the style of Tang Dynasty traditional Chinese architecture, using only dry jointing in its construction. It's somewhat meditative to find yourself on the grounds of the Chi Lin Nunnery whilst being almost guarded by the overlooking high rises. (picture 1+2 taken with sigma wide angle lens. Picture 3 taken with canon 18-200mm)

eye and my camera

I took a bus around central the day after I arrived to get a feel of the place. Great photo opportunities for the Bank of China and Lippo Centre.

Arrival to Hong Kong

I arrived into Hong Kong International airport October 27th. Just landed in the country and I was able to check one thing off my bucket list to see one of the worlds most ambitious engineering projects. I had first heard about this airport in a lecture given at UCD by an engineer who worked on the project. It began with the reclamation of 1,248 hectares of land off the north coast of Lantau Island, where I will be living for the next couple of months. I would highly recommend anyone flying into this airport to spare at least an hour to have a look around. The scale alone is enough to wow anyone!
